Luxurious,
yet practical - High-Tech
Meets Home
(ARA) - "Remember last winter?" seems to be
something we're hearing a lot as winter prepares to strike
again. The memories of cold, snow and ice are not easily
forgotten, even for those who have lived their whole life
in the great northern tundra and become immune to winter's
chill.
As we ponder the frigid nights and high heating bills
of last winter, Malden Ventures, a division of Malden
Mills, unveils the Polartec Heat Blanket, the ultimate
gift of the holiday season, which reflects a combination
of comfort and technology unprecedented in the home
market. Building upon a long-standing corporate
partnership, Malden Ventures selected Lands' End Home as
the exclusive retailer of the Polartec Heat blanket for
the upcoming winter season.
"We are very pleased and excited to offer yet
another fabulous Polartec product to consumers," said
Deborah Barney, vice president of Lands' End Home.
"This blanket has so much to offer, from the comfort
of Polartec fleece to the technology of the fibers that
are knit directly into the fabric to create even
heat."
"The discreet nature of this technology will raise
the expectations of consumers in what all blankets offer
in terms of comfort, technology and all-year
versatility," Robert Himmel, president of Malden
Ventures, said. "We've created a whole new level of
product for the home that delivers exceptional comfort in
a luxurious, aesthetic way. In innovation and lifestyle,
this is what the light bulb was to the candle."
Several features and benefits distinguish the Polartec
Heat Blanket from traditional electric blankets:
-- uses fibers instead of wires
-- provides warmth on demand
-- runs on safe, low voltage
-- features dual heating zones
-- made from high-quality Polartec fabric
-- ergonomically designed, wireless remote controls
-- machine washable
-- four-season versatility
The blanket is available in five colors (dark camel,
mineral green, brick red, deep forest green and cornflower
blue) that coordinate with other bedding offered by Lands'
End Home, from percale solid and stripe sheets to
luxurious 5-ounce cotton flannel bedding, as well as
blankets, comforters and bed coverings. It comes in three
sizes, including double ($159), queen ($199) and king
($219). The double size has one heating zone and comes
with one remote control. Both the queen and king sizes
feature dual heating zones and two remote controls.
"Another wonderful benefit is that this blanket is
a great energy saver since it runs on only 28 volts of DC
power," Barney said. "By turning up the
temperature of the blanket, consumers can turn down their
thermostats and save money on their heating bills this
winter."
Lands' End entered the home market in 1989 with a small
selection of bed and bath products in its core catalog. In
1991, the first Lands' End Home catalog was mailed to
consumers. Celebrating a decade in the home market, Lands'
End Home is proud to offer the highest quality products
for every room of the home.
Malden Ventures is the consumer products division of
