Delta’s New, Signature Pink Plane Takes Flight to Fight Breast Cancer

Delta continues partnership with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation to increase awareness and raise funds for research in the search for a cure

ATLANTA, Sept. 28, 2006 – Delta Air Lines is taking flight for the fight against breast cancer.  In October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the airline is introducing a newly painted Delta Pink Plane to its fleet to raise awareness for the cause and for its partner, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).  BCRF is a nonprofit organizationDelta's pink plane dedicated to funding innovative clinical and genetic research to find ways to prevent and cure breast cancer.

Instead of Delta’s traditional red, white and blue livery, this Boeing 757 will feature a specially designed new livery in multiple shades of pink and white.  Delta's brightly colored pink aircraft will also feature BCRF's trademark pink ribbon logo, adjacent to the boarding door, as a visible reminder to passengers that they are flying on Delta’s Pink Plane.

Delta will unveil the plane at a special event in Atlanta on Thursday, Sept. 28.  After the unveiling, it will visit a variety of markets the airline serves nationwide.  Additionally, throughout October, Delta will offer pink lemonade to customers for $2 on all domestic and most international flights with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting BCRF.

“Delta’s more than 50,000 employees are proud to support The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, an organization that has worked tirelessly for more than a decade funding research on prevention and the search for a cure,” said Joanne Smith, Delta’s vice president of Marketing.  “This disease affects many of our customers and employees worldwide and we remain deeply committed to helping raise both awareness and funding for the ever-important fight against breast cancer, which will, one day, lead to a cure.”

Delta's pink pland and pink Mini CooperDelta’s partnership with BCRF began in 2005 when the airline’s former low-fare service, Song, introduced the first pink-liveried plane to take flight in support of the cause.  Delta has carried on the tradition, repainting Song’s original Pink Plane into the new and distinctive Delta Pink Plane.

Delta’s Pink Plane has been reconfigured to feature the airline’s new domestic transcontinental product, including two classes of all-leather seating with 26 first class and 158 coach class seats.  In addition, every customer has a front row seat to great entertainment with Delta’s state-of-the-art, digital in-flight entertainment – boasting movies, live television, music and games – available on demand at every seat.  The airline’s new standard in domestic transcontinental flying will be available to all passengers traveling on select Delta flights over four hours (or more than 1,750 miles), including those from Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to cities including Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Seattle and others, beginning this month.

Delta Air Lines (Other OTC: DALRQ) offers customers service to more destinations than any global airline with Delta and Delta Connection carrier service to 292 destinations in 46 countries.  With more than 50 new international routes added in the last year, Delta is America’s fastest growing international airline and is the world’s leading carrier between the United States and destinations across Europe, India and Israel with flights to 29 trans-Atlantic destinations.  To Latin America and the Caribbean, Delta offers nearly 400 weekly flights to 48 destinations.  Delta's marketing alliances also allow customers to earn and redeem SkyMiles on more than 14,000 flights offered by SkyTeam and other partners. Delta is a founding member of SkyTeam, a global airline alliance that provides customers with extensive worldwide destinations, flights and services. Including its SkyTeam and worldwide codeshare partners, Delta offers flights to 461 worldwide destinations in 96 countries. Customers can check in for flights, print boarding passes and check flight status at delta.com.

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® was founded in 1993 by Evelyn H. Lauder as an independent, not-for-profit 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to funding innovative clinical and genetic research.  The Foundation supports scientists at leading medical centers worldwide whose research is focused on achieving prevention and a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime.  A minimum of 85 cents of each dollar donated to the Foundation goes directly to breast cancer research and awareness programs.  In October 2006, over $24.3 million will be awarded to 116 researchers across the U.S. and in Canada, Europe, Latin America, and Israel. Money magazine named BCRF one of America’s eight top charities.  The Foundation has received the highest rating from Charity Navigator, four stars, for five consecutive years, which means BCRF has outperformed most other charities in America in efficiently managing its finances.  For more information, visit www.bcrfcure.org or call 1.866.FIND.A.CURE.

Delta SkyMiles Members Donate More Than 100 Million Miles to Assist Tsunami Relief Efforts, U.S. Military Heroes

ATLANTA, Jan. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Delta Air Lines' (NYSE: DAL) SkyMiles(R) program members have donated more than 100 million miles to the SkyWish(TM) program over the past five months to support relief efforts in Southeast Asia and hospitalized U.S. military personnel and their families. These donated miles are enough to provide more than 4,000 domestic SkySaver Award Tickets.

"Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of SkyMiles program members, our recent charitable mileage donation campaigns have been a huge success," said Jeff Robertson, director of the SkyMiles program. "These donations confirm that 'good goes around' and we can all make a difference, even as individuals. It takes only one person doing one good thing to start a chain reaction and impact the lives of thousands."

Just days after the recent tsunami in Southeast Asia, Delta initiated a campaign encouraging SkyMiles program members to donate miles to assist in the relief efforts. Donated miles are sending relief workers to the affected areas to provide services and supplies. Nearly one month later, more than 25 million miles have been donated to CARE, UNICEF and the American Red Cross through Delta's SkyWish program.

Separately, Delta announced in September that SkyMiles program members can donate miles to support the Fisher House Foundation, which uses the miles to fly families of military members wounded or injured in Iraq or Afghanistan to military medical centers where they are hospitalized. While visiting their loved one, the relative stays in Fisher House's "comfort homes," which are built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers throughout the United States and overseas. Approximately five months since the campaign launched, more than 82 million miles have been donated to Fisher House.

SkyMiles program members can continue to donate miles to Fisher House, CARE, UNICEF, and the American Red Cross via e-mail at delta.bids@delta.com , by calling 1-800-325-3999 or via fax at 1-404-773-1945. Donations also may be made via the U.S. Postal Service to: Delta Air Lines, Inc., SkyMiles Service Center, Dept. 745, P.O. Box 20532, Atlanta, Ga., 30320-2532. There is a 5,000- mile minimum donation. SkyMiles program members should include their SkyMiles account number, the amount of miles to be donated and note their charity of choice. SkyWish donations are not tax deductible for Delta Air Lines or SkyMiles members. Individuals may visit delta.com/skywish for more information on donating miles and Delta's SkyWish program.
